UUSGS Stands on the Side of Love
The UU Society of Greater Springfield stood on the side of love this month welcoming Rev. Mark Kiyimba, who has risked his life to speak out against the repressive legislation pending in his country's Parliament that would criminalize homosexuality in Uganda.
His church sponsors an orphanage for children with AIDS, a school for over 500 students, and an LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) group.
Members opened their hearts and dug deep into their pockets to raise over $1000 to support the work of Rev. Mark's congregation in Kampala. The congregation has generously and lovingly responded to Rev. Mark's call for unity and compassion, and reached beyond its borders to stand on the side of love with people who are struggling for human rights and dignity.
