Introduction to the Clara Barton District

Clara Barton District has been in existence since 2000, when Central Mass District and Connecticut Valley District merged. Universalist Clara Barton was born within our borders in North Oxford, Ma., on Christmas Day in 1821, and delegates at the official merger meeting chose to name our new District in her honor! We are one of the 19 Districts in the US that comprise the Unitarian Universalist Association.

Geographically, we encompass central and western Massachusetts, and all but the southwest corner of Connecticut. Numerically, we have 64 member congregations and one newly emerging congregation. At last count, we had 7041 adult members among our congregations.
